Strong foundation pipelines are built through intentional focus and disciplined decision-making by identifying and prioritizing the right foundation funding opportunities.
In this two-part series, you will learn how to build a focused, high-quality foundation pipeline using criteria such as funder alignment, giving priorities, and likelihood of funding. You will explore how to identify foundation funding opportunities, assess fit with foundation guidelines, and prioritize prospects based on real potential.
This is not about building long prospect lists. It is about developing clear criteria for what makes a foundation worth pursuing and using that clarity to guide your fundraising strategy.
You will leave with a structured approach to identifying, researching, and prioritizing foundation prospects and grant opportunities, along with concrete next steps you can implement immediately to strengthen your foundation pipeline.

What the Training Will Cover
Day 1
Define clear criteria for what makes a foundation prospect a strong fit
Use a small set of tools strategically to identify new foundation prospects
Identify at least 5 potential foundation funders using a structured framework
Evaluate current foundation prospects and identify gaps in their pipeline
Build an initial list of high-potential foundation prospects aligned with their organization’s work
Day 2
Apply a simple framework to prioritize foundation prospects based on likelihood, relevance, and access
Distinguish between foundation prospects where they already have an opening and those where they do not, and adjust their approach accordingly
Evaluate which foundation prospects are worth pursuing based on their potential
Identify concrete next steps for strengthening their foundation pipeline

Each workshop session is live. Registrants receive slides & handouts. It is expected participants will be able to be on camera and able to unmute for some portions of the training to participate in discussions. Full recordings are not provided.
