WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Public speaking is a powerful tool—whether facilitating community conversations, promoting programs and services, delivering training, advocating for policy change, or building support through outreach, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising efforts. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to craft a message that resonates with an intended audience and inspires action. We will explore your challenges and opportunities as it relates to public speaking.
Effective public speaking looks different for everyone—each person brings unique goals, priorities, and areas of focus when developing their skills. Use this workshop to build your public speaking toolbox and feel more confident with speaking in public.
Please come prepared with a speech, presentation, mandatory webinar, pitch, training segment, facilitation plan, outreach message, or any specific communication challenge you would like to develop or refine. This could include presenting at a community event, sharing a client story at a fundraiser, leading a volunteer orientation, or overcoming nervousness when speaking to donors or board members.
Together, we’ll explore the key elements that strengthen your public speaking skills. We’ll examine how verbal and nonverbal communication, mindset, and preparation all play a role in your effectiveness. We’ll explore essential public speaking skills that apply to both in-person and live online presentations. In this workshop, we will help you build your personal public speaking to increase your confidence.
