Setting new hires up for success starts with more than just a warm welcome—it requires structure, feedback, and clear milestones. The First 90 Days: How to Embed Feedback & Milestones Into Orientation, Training & Onboarding is a practical workshop designed to help you build an intentional onboarding experience that supports employee growth, engagement, and retention.


You’ll learn how to design a roadmap for the first 90 days that includes thoughtful orientation, role-specific training, and regular check-ins. We’ll explore how to embed feedback loops and performance milestones to track progress, support learning, and ensure new staff—from program managers to fundraisers to leadership—feel confident and connected in their roles.

Whether you're building your onboarding program from the ground up or fine-tuning an existing process, this session will offer tools and strategies you can apply immediately.

What The Training Will Cover

  • Analyze the difference between orientation, training and onboarding for seamless employee transitions

  • Understand how to design structured orientation programs that introduce new hires to your organization’s mission, their role, organization culture, position expectations and operational processes.

  • Develop role-specific training plans tailored to the unique responsibilities of program managers, fundraising staff, and leadership roles.

  • Identify best practices for creating orientation and onboarding materials that streamline the transition into new roles and provide clarity for new employees.

  • Align your onboarding program with organizational goals to ensure that new staff are equipped to contribute effectively from day one.

  • Create employee-supervisor feedback loops and evaluation mechanisms to measure the success and to make improvements to your orientation, training and onboarding program

  • Gain practical strategies to create, improve or build your onboarding program to enhance team productivity and long-term success.

  • Explore techniques to engage supervisors, managers, and team leads in facilitating effective orientation and onboarding experiences for new employees.

This is an interactive workshop and must be restricted due to online training capacity. Each workshop session is live. Registrants receive slides & handouts. It is expected participants will be able to be on camera and able to unmute for some portions of the training to participate in discussions. Full recordings are not provided. ABOUT THE TRAINER

This training is led by Dr. Leah Weiner who has a doctorate in education and psychology from Pepperdine University. Leah Weiner is the Founder and CEO of the Nonprofit Learning Lab. Leah’s approach to training focuses on making sure that the information provided helps participants solve a problem or create a solution related to their professional work.
