The political landscape for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive (TGX+) communities is changing rapidly, with shifting laws and policies at federal, state, and local levels. TGX+ rights, access, legal recognition, and safety are increasingly at risk. This workshop offers a clear overview of current political developments and actionable steps for advocacy. Participants will examine the real-life impact of executive orders, court cases, and legislation, and learn where and how to advocate effectively. The session covers the latest political changes, how they affect TGX+ individuals in daily life, and ways to engage in advocacy locally and nationally. It also provides strategies to build internal allyship in the workplace and support TGX+ communities externally. Attendees will leave with tools to take immediate action and create long-term impact.

The landscape of nonprofit storytelling is undergoing a profound transformation, with organizations recognizing that how we tell stories is just as important as the stories themselves. This timely workshop addresses the need to move away from outdated practices that can inadvertently harm or exploit vulnerable communities while embracing emerging approaches that center dignity, agency, and well-being for storytellers, story owners, and audiences. As nonprofits navigate an increasingly complex communications environment, understanding and implementing trauma-informed storytelling practices isn't just about ethics—it's about creating more effective, authentic narratives that resonate with audiences while honoring the communities we serve.

Wealth is not in cash - it is in appreciated non-cash assets. We'll review some easy steps that a nonprofit can take to begin planned giving to get those appreciated assets. We'll then move into a breakdown of the variety of non-cash assets, whether a nonprofit wants to include them in their Gift Acceptance Policy, and how to talk with professional advisors and donors about those appreciated assets that can become major income for nonprofits.
