Workshop Description

DAY 1: Naming the Problem

You already know something isn't working. The events get bigger, the team works harder, and the revenue stays flat. What's harder to name is why.

Day 1 of this series gives participants the language and the diagnostic tools to identify what's driving short-term fundraising dependence in their organization. We'll break down the difference between transactional (microwave) and relational (crockpot) fundraising using real examples, look honestly at the opportunity cost of the current revenue model, and trace how board culture quietly shapes the ceiling on your growth.

This session isn't about adding more to your plate. It's about understanding what's already on it and what it's actually costing you.

DAY 2: Building the Shift

Knowing the problem is only half the work. Day 2 is where we get practical.

Building on the diagnostic work from Part 1, this session gives participants a framework and two hands-on tools to begin moving their organization toward relationship-based revenue. We'll talk about what crockpot fundraising actually looks like inside a small or mid-size nonprofit, how to reset board expectations around revenue timelines, and how to build accountability structures that support long-term thinking. Participants will leave with three specific, calendar-ready shifts they can make in the next 30 days.

This is not a motivational course. It's a working session. Come ready to build.

Who Should Attend

Nonprofit professionals looking to move beyond the restrictions of short-term fundraising habits.

What the Training Will Cover

Day 1:

  • Evaluate the opportunity cost of short-term, event-driven fundraising strategies within your organization's current revenue model

  • Distinguish between transactional (microwave) and relational (crockpot) fundraising approaches using concrete, real-world examples

  • Identify at least two structural habits within your board culture that reinforce short-term revenue spikes over long-term growth

  • Complete a fundraising mix assessment that gives you an honest picture of where your current revenue actually comes from

Day 2:

  • Apply a governance-centered framework for moving from transactional to relational fundraising in your specific organizational context

  • Use practical tools to audit their current board meeting agendas and relationship-based fundraising metrics for alignment with long-term revenue growth

  • Develop 2-3 actionable shifts to align board expectations, accountability structures, and meetings with sustainable, relationship-based revenue

  • Leave with a 30-day action plan that is realistic, specific, and tied directly to your organization's current capacity
