With internship recruitment season coming soon --- we think it is really important to make sure you pay your interns. You should pay your interns and also make sure to list out the hourly rate and/or salary right in the position description. Listing the salary of your internship pay and also paying interns creates a more equitable process. Also, think about all the hours you spend training your interns - we know - it is a lot! It can be a great opportunity to transition interns into paid staff after their experience of serving as a paid intern. In our own experience, paid interns more likely stay on paid staff rather than unpaid interns. Check some of the articles below on why it is important to pay your interns.
