Giving an empty pitch wastes valuable meeting time with a prospective donor and misses the key aspect of forming a relationship--knowing the donor.  Building a strong foundation with the donor is the first step in a relationship and understanding their values. In this workshop, participants will learn the right tools and build confidence in meeting donors and excavating their passions. We will be using real-time discovery interview practice with other attendees to model this methodology, preparing you even further for your next donor meeting. Identifying keywords and donor language reflection will step up your donor engagement and drive fundraising results.

Susan Kramer is anything but conventional. Her entrance into the nonprofit world is no exception. Years ago, as a young hairdresser, Susan had an epiphany. She realized her ability to build relationships in two minutes or less not only drove customers to her salon chair but provided a unique opportunity to master the art of excavating the most powerful hidden asset central to the long-term success of every organization—the hidden passions of people.  Her personal call to help others turn dreams into reality, a love of community, and years of practice transforming strangers into friends were the perfect raw materials as she made her leap into the nonprofit sector more than 20 years ago.  Since those early days, Susan has served as Chief Development Officer at Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado, where she implemented an annual campaign producing $13M from 6.2K donors. She spent time as CEO at the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas where she laid the groundwork for an entirely new fundraising approach geared to 21st century donors and built a Women’s philanthropy center from the ground up. She also served as the Director of External Relationships for Momentum, where she increased overall donation dollars $1.4M, led dozens of large-scale events in major cities, and facilitated a major initiative to ensure organizational compliance.
